During the week of July 28- Aug 2, 2018 the U.S. Army (Europe) held the annual ‘Europe Best Sniper Team Competition’ at the U.S. 7th Army Training Command’s Grafenwoehr Training Area in Bavaria, Germany. The focus of the competition is not to determine who the best Sniper Team, but rather to develop professionalism and esprit de corps among allied sniper teams. As well as to create a learning environment for all participants. 36 sniper teams from 19 different countries were tested in various disciplines including marksmanship skills, physical ability, and mental agility all while engaging in team-building competition.

The sniper teams participated in events that tested their capabilities from diverse shooting positions, platforms, and angles, including high angle from a Blackhawk helicopter and engagements from water craft. Disciplines were not limited to long guns only but also involved carbine and pistol. One scenario required the team to enter and clear a building with small arms, and then engage targets from an elevated barricaded position they just cleared. The training and competition was of the highest caliber.

The top five teams for the 2018 Europe Best Sniper Team Competition consisted of the following:

  1. Sweden
  2. Slovenia
  3. Germany
  4. Sweden
  5. Canada

Congratulations to the top teams and to all the participants!
