Well, the new for 2018 announcements keep flowing in. This time it is from an optics manufacturer.
Vortex Optics has just announced the release of two higher power scopes to their Strike Eagle line of scopes. Vortex already has a large and somewhat convoluted lineup of scopes, but this new Strike Eagle line is aiming for the lower mid-price region ($600-$700) with two initial offerings that seem to have some good features. The 3-18x44mm lists for $599.99 and the 6-24x50mm lists for $699.99. Each model includes the following:
- 6x zoom range (3-18x or 4-24x)
- Illuminated MOA style tactical Reticle
- One piece aluminum 30mm tubes
- XD Optics
- Glass etched reticles (in the 2nd focal plane)
- Lots of MOA of adjustment (120 for the 3-18x, 85 for the 4-24x)
- Sunshade included
- Lifetime warranty
Some may want the reticle on the first focal plane and others may not care for the 6x zoom range, but overall it is a solid feature set. Of course, the cost savings have to come from somewhere, so it’ll be interesting to get our hands on one of these to do a full review and see how they stack up. We do admit that the initial specs look promising for the price point.
