Now we really could care less about the Academy Awards here at Sniper Central, but we do care about Chris Kyle and his family, so it is good to see that his story is getting recognized through his movie. It opens here in Montana tomorrow so we’ll have a report once we see it. The movie is up for Best Picture as well as Best Director and some others.

A man’s man because of his attitude, care for family, fellow mankind and country. Waiting to see the movie. Hopefully Eastwood did not allow the story to become Hollywood-ized. Shame Jessie “The Jerk” Ventura is taking money away from Kyle’s widow.

Great movie, but they really do try to make the SEALs out to be the top. And that’s just not the case. They’re are plenty of guys in Ranger Batt’s that are just a proficient, and in most cases more proficient and tactical than SEALs. Take a guy from a Ranger Battery, send him to scuba school, then HALO school, you got yourself essentially a SEAL. Also, when I watched this movie, I got angry when he took a shot at 1900yds away at a stationary target (and got it no problem). Sorry, but just because you are a SEAL, does not mean I buy it. First off Samo Hayha the Finnish sniper had over 500+ confirmed kills, that’s the sniper with the highest number of kills in Military History, second, even with a .338 A round, at 1,600+ yards (a Mile or more) your not just taking a shot. But they wanted me to believe this guy took a shot at over a mile away without a Kestral, any Ballistics Software, no Calculations, and little more than some changes to his elevation turret… sorry… but as a sniper for 6 years, not buying it… just not.. and this is Sniper Central, there should be some other people that are seeing this too, not just me. I respect the SEALs as they are part of the Spec Ops Community, and they have the seven day hell week similar to the Ranger School 30+ day hell month an all, and that’s fine, but I’m not giving credence to that shot he made (respectfully). Chris Kyle may he rest in peace was a good operator, but I do not believe he made that shot.. Based purely on my knowledge of Interior, Exterior, Terminal and Transitional Ballistics I’m gonna have to say NO.

Do keep in mind this is a wide release movie and not a historical documentary, there will be some artistic liberties taken for audience entertainment. I trained with a number of Rangers, great troops, with great training. They have a different mission than SEALs, different mission, different training. Both are great at what they do.

Saw it, loved it. never knew about Chris Kyle before this movie mostly due to living in Canada and living quite secluded(by choice, not an igloo) does not allow me to see much media coverage. However as an unbiased viewer having no emotions going into the movie, in fact i didnt even know clint eastwood was involved until the credits rolled.
I LOVED IT, of course it strays away from real life now and again to maintain veiwer intrest it holds up really well. Bradley copper was amazing and gaining the 40LBS for the movie to maintain Chris’s body size was a great thing, made it believable.

SPOILER ALERT************** DON’T READ ON UNLESS YOU SEEN IT.

I was not happy with how they ended the film with a line of text rather then seeing it play out but I am assuming it was done out of respect for friends and family not re living the moment since this is a current event movie.

Chris Kyle is and was a hero to all that believe in freedom, democracy and his fellow man. For him to be gunned down in such a cowardly way … is a travesty of what we all stand for. RIP Chris Kyle and all that he stood and stands for, let us always stand for freedom and democracy because if we let sick cowards and religious fanatics rule the world then we won’t have any freedom left.
