Hey everyone. We wanted to extend an invitation to anyone who may be interested in attending a Survival Course up here in Montana. We have been working with a company up here in Montana called North West Defense (there will be a lot more information about them coming soon) and they have a Winter Survival class coming up on Feb 21-23. This is not just your normal average survival class, but rather it is taught by the experts in the field, SERE School instructors. There are only a few slots left and the cost of the course is $300. The class is open to everyone and you can reserve your… Read more »

Burris Updates Their XTR II Tactical Scopes

Burris released the XTR II version of their scope a year or so ago, but they have just announced some additional improvements to the scope line including some new reticles, but even more importantly, a new knob design that allows 100 clicks per revolution. This means 25 MOA or 10 MIL of revolution per rotation. With the MIL version that equates to 100 to over 900 yards with the 308 in a single rotation. Only about 800 yards with the MOA knobs, which are both very good. The scopes also have a FFP reticle, 34mm tube, Illuminated reticles (several designs) and zero stop feature. There are many magnification ranges available,… Read more »

American Sniper – Our Short Movie Review

The following is our own review of the movie ‘American Sniper’. Not all of us here have seen the movie yet and as such the review does not constitute the opinions of everyone here at Sniper Central, but rather my own. American Sniper is a film based on Navy SEAL’s Chris Kyle’s book “The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History”.  How do you portray a man’s life in two hours? You can’t, it just cannot be done in that short of a time.  For those of you who have read the book you may be a little disappointed in that there are a few changes that… Read more »

American Sniper up for 6 Oscars

Now we really could care less about the Academy Awards here at Sniper Central, but we do care about Chris Kyle and his family, so it is good to see that his story is getting recognized through his movie. It opens here in Montana tomorrow so we’ll have a report once we see it. The movie is up for Best Picture as well as Best Director and some others.

News from around the industry

There are some interesting product announcements from various manufacturers that we stumbled upon. Silencer Co is getting into the ammo making business. Their first load is a sub-sonic 220gr 300 AAC blackout load which is intended to compliment their 30 cal suppressors. Lapua also continues to expand is line of ammunition as well with their own 300 AAC blackout load as well. It is also in 220gr. But they have also introduced a couple of 7mm-08 loads. If you recall with our 7mm-08 rifle review we did, we had a problem finding good match grade long range ammo for the caliber. One of the Lapua loads is loaded with their… Read more »

Last Remaining Migration Items

I just wanted to provide an update to the progress on the full migration of the new web page. Right now we are working on moving all of the items from the old Sniper Central Store to the new one. As we move the items from the old to the new, we are removing the items from the old site in order to keep inventory accurate. We will also be creating the new “Ammo List” to show everything we have with real time inventory. We would like to see that up by the beginning of next week. So if you are looking for items, be sure to check both stores… Read more »
