J.T. was an accomplished sniper in Vietnam, and the book Dear Mom is his story. The book is based around his letters that he sent home to his mother during his time serving in the Vietnam war. The book has some good stories about JT’s experiences, and the writing is fairly good. I didn’t find it as good as some of the other book out there about sniping, but it is worth reading. The book does also have the distinction of being the book that exposed Charles B. Mawhinney to the rest of the world and shining the spot light on his accomplishments. JT himself was no slouch and had 63 confirmed kills during the war.
