|
|
I have finally decided to buy myself a christmas present and I have decided on a Glock 17L (we have some crazy gunlaws here that states that a handgun must be over 210mm to get a permit, it also can't be more than 9mm in caliber) so Im going with a 17 in 9mm, and I have decided that i want a DBAS sight so I was thinking about buying a Novak low cary with Tritium and also a front sight with tritium. what are youre opinion about Novak?
And what if any colours should I choose (im thinking of orange rear and green front if possible)

Practice with your new pistol first. Set of new sights is worth more than a few boxes of cheap practice ammo. That said........when are you going to carry (time of day), where (Interior lighting conditions), and I am guessing this will be home/personal defense weapon?
I have not tried the orange. Used various green ones for years. Started off with green/green on my G35. Went with green/green on my P229. The front sight on this is also a Tru-glo. Making it AWSOME on a brightly lit range or outside, as well as visiable in complete darkenss due to the tritium in the front. I beleive for the Glocks they make the rears with the Truglo tubes/tritium inserts as well. Currently carrying a Glock 22 RTF for duty and thus far have kept stock sights.
What I've learned in 10 years: Night sights are VERY critical for geting a high qual score when your shooting in the range, practicing your low/no light shooting. The few times I've shot in the 'real' world, it was instintive, sort of point and pull, way to tuned in on the threat to obtain a "TRUE" sight picture. Also for your consideration: For the same price you can ge a small light such as a sure fire or night-ops and practice with that. You can learn to index your front sight AND light up your target or threat. Also useful for finding other things in the dark and has more uses. Just my thoughts. _________________ Remington 700 VTR .308

I have been shooting sig 210's the last 20 odd years in service with the army and shooting warrying other pistols as well, amongst them H&K usp's and Glock and Taurus, so I think Ill pass on the couple of boxes ammo and go for the Novak's after all.
It will on this gun mostly be training and range and as fo home defence it isnt really allowed to use youre sportsgun or any gun that is for home defence anyway
Hopefully we will get the Glocks as new service guns at some point in the future so I figure it wont be such bad an idea to buy one and start training. Of course I could shoot it straight out of the box and I might do that... for a while

You must be in the Danish Army.
Now after shooting the SIG-210, why would you ever settle for a Glock?
Jag förstår inte.

Fluffy, you're supposed to be a genius. Last time I checked, the Sig 210 came in 9mm only. DBAS _________________ Professionals that demand nothing less than the best, demand Tac Ops. |

Jag förstår inte. THATS SWEDISH, og ikke dansk
Yes I am armoreer with the Danish Army.
Why settle with a Glock? the point is that the sig is called M/49 and they have been aroun since 1949, not that it's a bad thing but most are pretty beat up, 8 rounds vs 17 rounds, the Glock is in my humble opinion the best ever allround combat pistol.
Besides if the army chooses so they can get 2 Glocks for every Sig, or even better Glock for the people and bettter protective gear, body armor, helmet ect, ect,... (I hate working in a poor mans army) _________________ You break it, I´ll fix it |

Jeg taler ikke dansk. Swedish was the best I could do.
Anyway, I've always lusted after a SIG-210. And Squinty is such a cheapskate that he won't buy me one.

@Fluffy, as long as you don't miaw me I dont bother, most scandinavians understand one anothers language, we are after all related viking recendents
Anyhow if anybody are interested I can make a picture review tread of the Sig 210, after all I get them in for repair and general service on a regular basis.
Back to topic Im still interested in youre opinion and expierience with the Novak sights.
