I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a moldable cheek rest available, My thoughts are if the cheek weld was custom molded, you'd have instant indexing for faster alignment and shots, including follow-ups.

Thanks,
Stryder

It strikes me that if you have a formed cheek rest your face can somewhat settle into, your face now absorbs some of the recoil. Probably why you dont find any on the market.

I guess I should expand on this, and hopefully make some sense.
My thought is have it conform to the rear of the cheek with the front of the face clear. The weapon will still recoil back and the face should not be taking any more punishment than normal. My main concern is to increase accuracy and speed. Just exploring if this could be part of the equation. Someone has had to research this.

There is a plastic material that you can get in sheets from most medical suppliers. You heat it up in hot water to whatever temperature depending on how pliable you want it. It can be cut with utility shears, drilled and formed what ever way you want. It is stuff they use for making splints and casts. Never used it for anything else but I suppose it could be used for a cheek rest.

Thanks Jake,
I've been playing with the neoprene sleeves with weatherstriping underneath, It's been working pretty well, I'll deffinately look into the plastic splint theory also,
Thanks again,
Scott

The material used in the Karsten cheek rests is heat moldable (boiling water). Not for the faint of heart since you can easily convert a great cheek rest into a wrinkled tortilla.
