I've been hunting most of my life but never had to take over 150 yard shot. I've never had high quality optics as they were way out of my budget so I always used a basic off the shelf 1" Dednutz one piece mount and rings. Here's the catch, I got the itch now to see just how far I can accurately shoot. I've got a Remington 700 SPS Varmint .308 that I put in a Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist A3 Hook style stock and today after reading a hundred or more posts I called Matt and ordered a WOTAC Gen4 4-14X50. Now my question is should I use a standard 30mm Dednutz mount or the 20MOA or separate rings and base and if so 0MOA or 20MOA? Why would I need a canted base? I'm being realistic and only going to try to get out to 400-500 yards for now until my skills improve. Suggestions and opinions welcome but be able to explain why your pick is better than the others. One last question, is the Mil Dot Master really worth the $30 it cost to someone just starting out with a Mil Dot optic? Thanks in advance

Law dawg,
I am pretty much in your same situation, although I have already ordered new base and rings for my sps tac. I also ordered the same wotac from matt. I will be interested in responses to this thread. Btw, I ordered the warne 1 piece 20 moa base and burris xtr med rings _________________

I still need more info. Which mount do I need? I'm partial to the Dednutz mounts because they're right here in North Carolina an hour up the road and the one piece design but if going with a separate base and rings is better that's the route I'll go. Now for the big question what height rings? I think with the Dednutz it will need to be medium. Thanks
