I just purched a remington sps tactical the stock has to go. but on measuring the throat legnth i found it to be .135" long. My question is should i have the barrel set back and the chamber recut. and how much accuracy loss will this cause. I can not set the bullet out far enough to get a .010 to .015 jump to the lands. I am loading smk 175gr bullets. I plan on using this rifle out to 600 meters for our tacitical matches at our club. Thanks for the help.

Out to 600 you should be fine. I would say test at those ranges first to see how it does before you go sinking money into her that you may not need to. _________________ #2 Infidel

I have Remington's with the factory long throat and I have one with a short throat. While I do not handload for .308win I have shot FGMM 168 in all of them and not seen any difference in accuracy
