Comments: This is a different load and one that has some historical significance as well. The original A191 that was made for the US Navy SEALs in the 1990s used this actual bullet, in fact, HSM made that initial first run of ammunition. It wasn’t until later that they switched to the 190gr Sierra Matchking bullet. This load is loaded hot from HSM with a velocity of 3100 fps and while it didn’t reach that in the Ruger, it sure did in the Alpha. The BC on this bullet is higher than the SMK 190gr, but this stepped boattail design can be finicky when it comes to rifles. The Alpha didn’t shoot it well, but the Ruger did okay. With this high BC combined with high velocity, if your rifle likes it, this could be a great load.

  • We had a malfunction with our Chronograph and we were only able to get one mereading.
  • Velocities considerably lower than published 3100 fps.
  • A unique load that noone else offers.
  • Much more consistent in this rifle than the Alpha-66

  • Everything seemed to look good for this load, but the rifle just did not shoot it well.
  • Velocity is excellent as are the long range ballistics

NOTE: “Accuracy with flyers” includes the raw averages including groups where the shooter called a bad shot before rechecking the placement of that shot. The “average without flyers” is the average group size with those “flyer” groups not added in.
