Made in Switzerland, the SG 550 is one of the few 5.56mm sniper rifles that was officially adopted. Developed From the SG 550 assault rifle, accuracy is improved by the addition of a sensitive double-pull trigger, and also a heavy barrel. A bi-pod is standard as is a fully adjustable stock. These rifles were developed at a time when sniper rifle adoption was still in its infancy and it is a high precision rifle, though probably more suitable to a DMR role. We have no first hand experience with this weapon at Sniper Central, but the reports are of very good accuracy, well below MOA with the right ammo.

Shooting a loaned Swiss army 550 Sig with the ” standard” ×4 scope gave surprisingly good results up to 475m (measured). So there is no reason the sniper version will not give outstanding results.
My own former military one was very precise too.
It also accepted a lot of abuse and remain fonctional. So the 550 series could be considered as “a Kalashnikov built by Rolex”…

I should return to you in a few month, when I’ll have my sniper one delivered (or later if it arives too late. I lost interest in shooting in the winter!!!).
