During the week of March 18-22nd, the 9th Annual United States Army Special Operations Command International Sniper Competition was held with 40 teams participating from US Special Operations units and other special operations units from around the world. The competition is not publicized much and is only open to teams serving in Special Operation units. So information during the five day competition was pretty scarce but the final results are in and a team from the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) took top honors.

The competition has 22 different stages and events that challenge the physical and mental capabilities of the teams.  The United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School and the 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) hosted the event, as they normally do. The 1st SFG (A) sniper team outperformed special operations teams from the Naval Special Warfare Command, Marine Corps Scout Sniper School, U.S. Army Sniper School, 75th Ranger Regiment, and international SOF teams from Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, France, Italy, and Singapore.

The winning team was comprised of Master Sgt. David and Sgt. 1st Class Cuong, their full names were withheld for operational security reasons. They know who they are, as do the other competitors. Congratulations gents!
